Budweiser Qualifying Report: Dale Jr. Third
|
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the No. 8 Budweiser team were third quickest in today's qualifying session for next Sunday's Daytona 500. Greg Biffle won the Bud Pole for the 500, while Elliott Sadler was second quickest.
Today's qualifying session sets the starting line-up for Thursday's 125-mile qualifying races. Dale Jr. will start on the outside of the front row in the first of the two qualifying races. His finishing position in that race will determine his starting spot for the Daytona 500.
Dale Jr. quotes after qualifying:
"I'm not Nostradamus, but I think we can win the 125 and I think we can win the 500. We finished second last night (in the Budweiser Shootout) with a car that the team and I really weren't happy with, and we know this car is much better. We wanna win all the races we can."
"It was a good lap, pretty quick... so we're happy with that I guess. The wind wasn't a big factor with the handling of the car, it just slowed everybody down going down the backstretch..."
