-- Prior to this evening's Pepsi 400, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won four of the five races he has entered this year at Daytona. He won the Budweiser Shootout and the 125-mile qualifier in the No. 8 Budweiser car, and two Busch Series races in the No. 8 Chance2 entry. In those five races, he has led 252 laps out of 449 completed, 56 percent of the total laps.
--- He was leading the Daytona 500 when a failed alternator cost him two laps in the rain-shortened event.
-- He now has six career wins at Daytona: four this season, plus the 2001 Pepsi 400 and the Busch Series 300 in 2002.
--- Beginning with the 2001 Daytona 500, Dale Jr. has five Winston Cup victories in the last 10 restrictor-plate races. He has eight finishes of eighth or better in those 10 races. Dale Jr. has led nine of the 10 races for a total of 549 laps.
(The only race he did not lead was the 2002 Daytona 500, when he cut down a tire while running in second place.)
