Brickyard 400 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Budweiser NASCAR Winston Cup Race Preview - July 31, 2000

Quotes from Dale Earnhardt Jr.
"We found some speed during the test there (in early July) so I think we should be good. It's going to be like WWF wrestling going into that first turn - it gets so narrow in the corners that you really can't run side-by-side. Our cars are so big that compared to the Formula One cars (that will race at the Brickyard in September), we must look like cavemen with Flintstone cars. The track has such a great tradition, but I don't think this race has been around long enough to have the same impact or sense of history for me personally that Daytona does."

A Special Guest
Actress and model Susan Ward will be a guest of Dale Jr. at the Brickyard 400. Ward is the star of the current movie "The In Crowd," and has been seen on the small screen in recurring or starring roles on "All My Children," "Malibu Shores," "Sunset Beach" and the syndicated "Hercules."

The stunning Ms. Ward, a self-proclaimed life-long NASCAR fanatic (and frequent entrant in celebrity racing events), is a native of Louisiana. She was recently selected as one of the "100 Hottest Women in the World" (No. 22) by FHM magazine and is among the "Maxim Hot 100" women (No. 14) as chosen by Maxim magazine. Ward will watch the Brickyard 400 from the Budweiser pit area (unless it becomes apparent that she is distracting the pit crew!).

Dale Jr. did compete in last year's IROC race at the Speedway. He finished 11th.

What to Watch
The Brickyard 400 is a rare Saturday race for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Dale Jr. and the Bud team have done quite well this season in events run on Saturday, winning at Richmond and also The Winston. Dale is also a two-time Busch Series champion, a series that competes most frequently on Saturday afternoons.

This weekend is also the final race of the 2000 International Race of Champions (IROC) Series. Dale Jr. is currently tied with Jeff Gordon for ninth in IROC points, and will start Friday's race from the fourth position.

Thanks to Jade from BudPR for this info! Jim :~)
